Already the manufacturer of a formidable armada of offshore artificials, Williamson Lures has a new pair of topwater baits that are sure to find a home in local anglers’ arsenals. The Surface Pro and Popper Pro are both designed for anglers pursuing pelagic predators that offer anglers several retrieve options to entice crushing surface strikes.

Designed to mimic a crippled baitfish struggling on the surface, the Popper Pro features a cupped face and a versatile pencil body that allows anglers to utilize either pop-and-pause or walk-the-dog style retrieves.

A topwater stick bait, the Surface Pro can be worked fast or slow with a slashing retrieve, walk-the-dog action, or rip-and-pause cadence.

When fish are feeding heavily, anglers can often hook up regardless of the action they’re putting on the baits, but fine-tuning a retrieve can be the difference between success and failure when the bite’s slow.

The experience of watching a fish cruise up to a topwater only to turn away at the last second is a familiar and frustrating one for inshore and offshore anglers alike, but the multitude of possible actions in the Surface Pro and Popper Pro’s repertoire increase the odds of being able to fool fish, particularly when they’re being finicky.

Tempting strikes is a lure’s primary objective, but it won’t do much good if the bait’s construction isn’t up to the task of hooking and getting them to the boat, particularly with offshore brawlers like tuna and dolphin. Both of the new lures feature stainless steel through-body or pin-and-swivel construction, meaning they’ll hold up to plenty of abuse from the blue water’s meanest adversaries. The robust rigging terminates in heavy-duty inline VMC hooks for maximum swimming action, point exposure, and hookset.

Each is offered in 5.125” and 7” sizes to allow anglers to tailor their offerings to the size of their quarry and available forage, and seven proven offshore color patterns allow anglers to either mimic baitfish with natural hues or choose louder patterns that make the baits stand out from the water and sky.
