Blue Water Candy Introduces new items for 2015:
The folks at Blue Water Candy Lures have always held a reputation for handcrafted, innovative products with special attention to our fisheries here in the Carolinas. They’re also known for some of the most interesting product names on the market, and this year’s introductions are no exception. Both the “Flyin’ Scooter” and “Roscoe Meathead” are two of the hottest items for this coming fishing season.
Bluewater trolling anglers are constantly searching for a lure that can be successful in several positions in their trolling spread while appealing to all of the pelagic species they may encounter. Coupling a chugger head with a mylar/silicone skirt combo along with long mylar “wings,” the Flyin’ Scooter has the potential to end this search.
These features along with its large holographic eyes make the Flyin’ Scooter a virtual mirror image of a distressed flying fish. Before its 2015 launch, this lure was tested by a few local captains, and was fished without bait and rigged with a single hook. Not only were the captains impressed by how effective these lures were on blackfin tuna, they were surprised at their durability, claiming that one lure held up to over 50 fish without needing to be re-skirted.
The applications for the Flyin’ Scooter are endless. Pulled naked in the shotgun position or added in front of a short-rigger ballyhoo, it will surely entice countless tuna, dolphin, and billfish bites this spring. The Flyin’ Scooter comes in four fish-raising colors and is available rigged, unrigged, and in a dancing daisy chain. If bluewater trolling is your game, pick a few of these up before you leave the dock this spring.
Blue Water Candy has also added a new product to the Roscoe jig family. It is well known how effective the Roscoe jig already is, but what if you could add both live and dead bait to it? Blue Water Candy Lures has addressed this question with the introduction of the Meathead.
Instead of a single top assist hook, the Meathead comes equipped with a tandem set of circle assist hooks from the bottom of the lure. This allows the Meathead to be rigged with live or dead bait while adhering to all federal laws requiring circle hooks.
The front assist hook also contains a glow squid skirt for extra attraction. In addition to added appeal, this allows the angler to feel the bite much better than a standard bottom rig with heavy lead.
The Meathead is available in three colors in both 4 oz. and 7 oz. sizes. For the few bottom dwellers that pass on the regular Roscoe, the new Meathead is sure to bring ‘em to the box.
