Anyone who’s spent much time as a coastal angler can recognize how crucial having the right clothing is to having an enjoyable day on the water. Being overly hot, cold, or—most unpleasantly—wet, can sap the pleasure right out of an outing regardless of the strength of the fishing action or time of year.

Cape Fear Sportswear’s Squall Rain Suit takes care of the wet part by covering anglers head-to-foot in a waterproof, yet breathable layer that’s capable of keeping them comfortable in any season.

Bulky foul weather gear can be a headache to transport or store, particularly when the skies seem clear. Fortunately, the Squall suit fits easily into a compact and included pack bag that takes up almost no room in a boat console, truck cab, or gear bag; meaning anglers can keep their raingear handy and at the ready when it’s time to fish (or boat, work, etc.) through the elements.

Along with its compact size, the Cape Fear Squall package is the lightest rainsuit on the market. Not only does this ease transportation, it means anglers can tailor the clothing underneath the suit to fit the conditions—wear it over boardshorts if you don’t want to take a soaking during the summer months or over as many layers as applicable once the temperatures start to drop.

A vented back in the jacket and mesh lining in both jacket and pants enhances the Squall’s breathability and comfort, a critical consideration in the warmer months.

Hoods flapping around one’s head when they aren’t needed are particularly annoying in a running boat and, to eliminate that bother, the Squall jacket’s attached hood can be folded back into the collar when anglers need more protection from wind than water. The jacket also features Velcro storm flaps on the main and pocket zippers to keep moisture from creeping into anglers’ torsos or pocket contents.
At the waist, an elastic draw cord allows anglers maximum comfort and maneuverability, along with the option to decide whether breathability or weather protection is the most important trait of the garment at any given moment.

Oversized legs on the suit’s pants allow anglers to put them on and take them off without removing shoes, something no one wants to do on a wet boat deck. And Velcro flaps at the ankles mean angles can create a secure fit around their legs or boots to keep water out.
Cape Fear Squall Rain Suits are available in sizes S-XXL to fit most wearers, and anglers can check them out at a variety of NC Cape Fear Sportswear dealers or visit www.capefearsportswear.com for more information.
