Mark Dickson, at Shallow Minded Guide Fishing, reports flounder fishing becoming consistent in the area on mud minnows and small pogies.
Small speckled trout are biting Gulps in the waterway and inlet, while the redfish have been on fire in the creeks one day and won’t touch a bait the next. Try live baits in a little deeper water to get the reds to bite.
The spanish and bluefish are right out the inlet to the nearshore reefs. Also on the reefs are sheepshead, but fiddler crabs are needed to entice them to bite.
Spadefish are showing up on the Sherman Wreck, as well as a few cobia coming nearshore. The kings are hanging out in 55+ foot of water, and it won’t be long until they are on the beach.
Gulf stream has been sporadic for tuna, but the wahoo and dolphin bite has been good when boats are able to go.
Patrick Kelly, at Captain Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports fishing has been tough with southwest blows, but the fish are around. Speckled trout ranging 13-22” are biting live baits around the bridges, jetties, and feeder creeks. Redfish are still holding shallow, but Gulps are working better for them in 4-5’ of water in the creeks and waterway.
The flounder are biting Gulps or pogies, but they are only averaging 14 inches. Some big (7-10 lb.) bluefish have raided the Little River jetties.
