Mark, of Shallow Minded Inshore Fishing Charters, reports that anglers have been seeing some good flounder fishing in Tubbs Inlet recently. Most of the flatfish are falling for live mud minnows and finger mullet.
There’s also been a solid flounder bite on nearshore structure like the Jim Caudle Reef over the past week. Live menhaden are often a better bet than the other baits for anglers looking to target the larger fish on the reefs.

Inshore, the past weekend saw some excellent red drum action around creekmouths and other spots along the ICW. The reds will fall for a variety of live and cut baits fished on the bottom or under floats.

Spanish mackerel and bluefish are schooling just outside Little River Inlet, where they’re feeding on finger mullet pushing out the jetties with the falling tides. Anglers can hook plenty of both while casting plugs like MirrOminnows around schools they spot chasing bait on the surface. Short, light wire leaders will keep anglers from losing pricy plugs to the toothy fish.

Patrick, of Capt. Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports that anglers are connecting with flounder in Tubbs Inlet and along many ICW spots at present. Most of the flatfish have been falling for live shrimp and finger mullet fished on the bottom.

Speckled trout are also looking for meals in Tubbs and along grass and shell banks in the ICW between Little River and Sunset Beach. Live shrimp fished under floats are fooling the majority of the specks, but anglers are also hooking some on finger mullet.

Ronnie, of Cherry Grove Pier, reports that anglers have been hooking some large sheepshead from the pier on barnacles, sand fleas, and other baits (some 8-9 lbs.)

Speckled trout have also been biting well (some 25”+) on live finger mullet and tiger-side minnows.

Flounder are falling for the same live baits.

Anglers bottom fishing with shrimp are hooking some sea mullet, croaker, and other panfish.

Live-baiters fishing from the end of the pier are seeing action with some large spanish mackerel (4-5 lbs.).
