Ryan, of Hatteras Jack, reports that red drum have been caught off of Cape Point on bunker and mullet, and anglers from Rodanthe south have been catching a few bluefish and sharks. In the tri-villages, anglers are reeling in plenty of sea mullet and a lot of blow toads on bloodworms and shrimp.

Offshore, there has been some blackfin and yellowfin action, as well as a few scattered wahoo.

Joe, of Rodanthe Pier, reports that pier anglers have been catching blow toads and sea mullet, as well as a few puppy drum. Anglers have been using shrimp, bloodworms, and finger mullet for bait, and the pier reported a couple of oversized drum catches in the 38” range.

In the next couple of weeks, when the wind dies down, bluefish should start showing up, as well as even more drum.

Sara, of Frank and Fran’s, reports that there have been steady catches of sea mullet, bluefish, and blow toads, along with yearling and big drum, all along the beaches from Avon to Hatteras. There’s also been at least one sheapshead caught. Anglers are reeling in all varieties on shrimp, bloodworms, Fishbites, and mullet.

 

Cameron, of Frisco Bait and Tackle, reports that anglers are catching pufferfish, sea mullet, and red and black drum. The pufferfish and sea mullet have been reeled in all along the beach, and all catches have mostly been caught on shrimp and cut menhaden. The drum have been mainly caught off the point, and a drum run came through on one recent night with fish averaging 40”or more.

 

Aaron, of Tightline Charters, reports that there have been lots of blues in the inlet in the 2-4 lb. range.

There have also been over-slot drum hooked while anchoring in the inlet as well. They are being caught on cut bait and are clocking in at around 28”.

 

Jay, of Bite Me Sportfishing, reports that there has been solid tuna fishing, including blackfin and albacore, with one blackfin coming in at 39”.

 

JAM, of Teach’s Lair, reports that there have been steady blackfin tuna catches when the weather cooperates.

Anglers are catching citation drum off the beach from the point all the way to Hatteras, and they’re also landing blow toads, sea mullet, and bluefish.

Inshore anglers are reeling in bluefish, as well as puppy drum, and the fishing overall has been pretty decent.

 

Alan, of Tradewinds Tackle, reports that anglers off the beach have caught a few keeper flounder in the 16-17” range and 16-22” bluefish off both metal casting lures and bait.

There have also been regular reports of scattered puppy drum in the 30-35” range, as well as big drum reports every week in the 40-50” range.
