Product Review: Engel Live Bait Cooler
Engel’s Live Bait Cooler will keep your mullet minnows, shrimp, or other live bait ready for showtime, thanks to the powerful 2X2 air pump and insulated cooler box. The 2-speed air pump keeps the water fully aerated, and the insulated cooler shields valuable bait from extreme temperatures.
The Engel 2X2 air pump runs strong on two (2) D-Cell batteries, and the 2-speed pump maximizes aeration and increases battery life. Engel’s suggestion: run on high speed when your cooler is full of bait, and then turn the pump down and conserve battery power later in the day.
A water-resistant housing on the pump protects the motor and suppresses noise. The pump attaches with a stainless steel clip on the cooler, and a flexible silicone hose and weighted air stone are included for lively bubbling action.
The system can plug into your car or boat’s cigarette lighter using the handy 12V adapter. This feature allows you the option to run the pump overnight and keep bait fresh for the next morning.
Engel’s molded polystyrene insulation helps protect bait in both hot and cold conditions, a watertight EVA gasket in the lid will prevent any splashing during transport, and the durable, high-impact plastic base and lid won’t absorb odors (and is easy to clean).
Engel’s live bait cooler features corrosion-resistant, self-stopping hinges and stainless steel latches and screws for saltwater use. In addition, it’s easy to carry. Just use the integrated handle in the lid or the shoulder strap (included).
