Chris, at East Coast Sports, reports that pier fishing has been producing the usual summer mixed bag. Expect to hook a sheepshead, a flounder, a small king, or one of the smaller bottomfish species.
Surf fishing has had some catches of good-sized mullets and some spots and reds. There’s also been a few pompano landed.
Inshore fishing continues to be slow in the area, with not much to talk about with flounder, reds, or trout.
The areas off the beach from 0-20 miles have had lots of schoolie kings, especially around Honeymoon Rock. There have also been a few sails released in this zone. With the hot weather, expect the bite to be over by 10:00 AM.
Ricky Kellum, at Speckled Specialist Charters, reports a good weekend of trout fishing with the largest measuring 29 inches and weighing over 7 lbs. The morning bite has been the best, and most of them have been biting artificials.
Frank, at Seaview Pier, reports flounder fishing finally picking up. The fish are ranging up to 20 inches. A few spanish, blues, sea mullet, and spots are keeping anglers busy, but no kings this week. Tarpon are rolling around off the pier, but they haven’t been interested in eating the last few days.
