With hot fall fishing for every species that inshore anglers pursue in NC just around the corner, isn’t it time to invest in some new tackle to maximize your enjoyment and success this autumn?
Star Rods, long a standby for anglers seeking high-quality inshore and offshore rods, is introducing over a dozen new models of their popular Stellar Lite spinning rod series this fall. The rods won’t replace the old Stellar Lites, which have become favorites for many inshore anglers and are sure to remain that way, but they will augment the line with faster action blanks and new components often found only on custom rods.
Fast action blanks are in high demand right now on the inshore scene, and Star has responded to the demand with these new Stellar Lites. Four new models are already available, and another nine will be on the market by November. The line has models perfect for everything from casting Carolina-rigged live baits and soft plastics for flounder and red drum to working topwater plugs for reds and trout to slinging metal jigs for nearshore speedsters like spanish mackerel, Atlantic bonito, and false albacore.
“In addition,” Capt. Arlen Ash, of Wilmington’s Tex’s Tackle and Ultimate Reaction Sportfishing says, “it’s not their true intended purpose, but if fishing light tackle for ocean pelagics like king mackerel and dolphin is your game, these faster action rods can handle it.”
The faster action IM-6 blanks of the new rods are combined with Fuji Concept system guides and lighter, more ergonomically tapered cork grips and butt sections to make the new Stellar Lites lighter, more responsive rods with better casting accuracy and distance and greater sensitivity and hook-setting power than the previous models.
The four models now available are offered in 6’6” and 7’ lengths in two power ratings. The lighter rods are 6-14 lb. models rated for 1/4 to 5/8 oz. baits, and the slightly stiffer 8-17 lb. rods are designed to cast 1/4 to 3/4 oz.
The other rods coming out in November will include more actions and 7’ and 7’6” models with split grips finished with aluminum winding checks, giving them more of a custom rod look and feel than the full-cork grip models.
All the rods in the new Stellar Lite line will retail for $99.95, significantly less than fast action competitors like the St. Croix Avid and Shimano Compre lines. A lifetime warranty on all the Stellar Lites offers anglers peace of mind when putting the fast-action Stellar Lites to the test, whether it be against doormat flounder in Snow’s Cut, bruiser reds on the flats of the Cape Fear or Topsail, or albacore, bonito, king mackerel, and dolphin off any of our NC beaches.
Tex’s Tackle is a Star Rods Showroom and features at least one of every model the company manufactures with over 200 in stock. Anglers can check out the Stellar Lites at Tex’s, other area tackle shops, or check out www.seastriker.com/starrods for more information.
