Ryan, of Hatteras Jack, reports that anglers are hooking and releasing good numbers of sailfish and white marlin while on trolling trips offshore of Oregon Inlet.

Flounder are feeding in the inlet and biting live baits like finger mullet.

Surf casters have been hooking some large pompano along with some spot and croaker around Rodanthe. Shrimp and sand fleas are fooling most of the panfish.

Anglers are also hooking some bluefish and spanish mackerel while working metal jigs from the local beaches.

Scott, of The Fishin’ Hole, reports that anglers are primarily connecting with pompano in the surf along the Tri-Villages (some small and some solid keepers). Shrimp are fooling most of the fish.

There’s also been a decent bite of well over-slot (33-38”) red drum along the beach between Avon and Salvo on some recent days. Cut baits are fooling some of the fish, but many have been biting shrimp on rigs intended for pompano and sea mullet.

 

Terry, of Rodanthe Pier, reports that anglers have been hooking some bluefish and spanish mackerel while working Gotcha plugs and other casting lures from the end of the pier.

Live-baiters have had plenty of action as well, hooking large spanish, king mackerel, cobia, and tarpon over the past week.

Bottom fishermen are primarily connecting with croaker, spot, sand perch, and other panfish.

 

Lincoln, of Frank and Fran’s, reports that anglers are connecting with some sea mullet, spot, croaker, pompano, and gray trout while casting baits from the beach around Avon. Shrimp, sand fleas, and cut baits are producing most of the action.

Anglers casting baits and lures in the sound are hooking a few speckled trout and puppy drum, but it’s overall fairly slow.

 

Cameron, of Frisco Tackle, reports that anglers are seeing action with sea mullet, pompano, and red and black drum while casting baits from the beach around Frisco. Shrimp and cut baits are fooling most of the fish.

Bluefish and spanish mackerel are also feeding just off the beaches. Surf casters are hooking them on metal casting lures like Shore Lure Glass Minnows.

 

Kyle, of Frisco Rod and Gun, reports that anglers are connecting with sea mullet, croaker, pompano, and bluefish while casting baits from Hatteras Island’s southern beaches. Shrimp and Fish Bites baits are producing much of the action. Spanish mackerel and bluefish are also feeding within range of surf casters around Buxton and Hatteras on many days. Anglers are hooking both on metal casting jigs.

Inshore boaters are still finding action with slot and over-slot red drum, both while fishing baits and on lures like spoons and soft plastics.

Boaters trolling around Hatteras Inlet are connecting with good numbers of spanish mackerel while pulling Clarkspoons and other flashy lures. A few kings have been mixed in.

The offshore fleet is still seeing plenty of action of with dolphin, putting together limits and near limits on many days. There’s been a good wahoo bite recently as well, and scattered blackfin tuna are joining in on the action. A few billfish are around and taking an interest in boats’ baits, too. Ballyhoo and skirted trolling lures are producing most of the action with the pelagics.

Bottom fishing offshore has been good with sea bass, porgies, snappers, amberjacks, and other tasty fish making their way into the fish boxes.

 

JAM, of Teach’s Lair, reports that the offshore boats are hooking big numbers of dolphin along with some fat wahoo and blackfin tuna.

Inshore boaters are still seeing plenty of action with red drum in the Pamlico Sound.

Pompano and sea mullet are feeding in the local surf and biting shrimp and sand fleas on small-hooked bottom rigs.

Anglers working metal casting lures from the Hatteras beach are connecting with bluefish and spanish mackerel.

Flounder are also feeding around the inlet and in the sound, where anglers are hooking them on live and strip baits along with artificials like soft plastics.

 

Melinda, of Tradewinds Tackle, reports that anglers are hooking some pompano and other bottomfish while soaking shrimp and sand fleas in the Ocracoke surf.

Some red drum and large sharks are biting cut baits off the beach as well.

Anglers are also hooking plenty of over-slot to citation-class red drum in the inlet and sound while bottom fishing with large cut baits.
