Ryan, of Hatteras Jack, reports that anglers are connecting with solid numbers of red drum (from slot sized to 40”+ citation fish) while fishing the beachfront from Rodanthe to Avon. Most are falling for large chunks of mullet, spot, menhaden, and other oily fish.

Scott, of The Fishin’ Hole, reports that surf casters are catching big numbers of sea mullet (many 1-2 lbs.) along with some black drum, pufferfish, trout, and more. Shrimp are fooling most of the panfish.

There’s also been good action with upper-slot to citation-class red drum along the local beaches. The reds are primarily biting cut baits.

Anglers fishing around Oregon Inlet are connecting with speckled trout, bluefish, and more.

Ginger, of Frank and Fran’s, reports that anglers are hooking good numbers of puppy drum and some large reds (to 53”) while casting baits from the beach around Avon. Cut baits and finger mullet are fooling many of the fish.

Sea mullet, pufferfish, gray trout, and smaller speckled trout have also been biting from the beachfront and taking an interest in shrimp, cut baits, Fish Bites, and more.

Bev, of Frisco Tackle, reports that anglers have been hooking slot and over-slot red drum and bluefish while surf fishing around Avon and Hatteras recently, as the Frisco beach access ramp is still closed. Cut baits are fooling both fish.

Kyle, of Frisco Rod and Gun, reports that anglers are finding action with puppy drum, sea mullet, bluefish, and some sheepshead and pufferfish while casting baits from Hatteras Island’s southern shorelines. Some large red drum have been in the mix as well.

Inshore boaters continue to connect with solid numbers of red drum in the Pamlico Sound. The drum will bite cut and live baits or gold spoons and a variety of other artificial lures. Some speckled trout and bluefish have also been falling for anglers’ offerings in the sound.

Offshore boats are putting together some impressive catches of dolphin and wahoo when they can get to the blue water. Some yellowfin and blackfin tuna have been finding their way into the fish boxes as well, and boats are also starting to see some king mackerel. Ballyhoo paired with skirted trolling lures are fooling the majority of the offshore gamefish.

JAM, of Teach’s Lair Marina, reports that anglers are still connecting with plenty of slot and over-slot red drum while soaking baits and working lures around Hatteras Inlet and in the sound.

The offshore fleet is finding action with dolphin and wahoo and have also released decent numbers of billfish over the past week.

Bottom fishing offshore is producing big hauls of triggerfish (some 5+ lb. citations) along with a mixed bag of other tasty species.

Surf casters are hooking some bluefish, puppy drum, and flounder.

Jay, of Bite Me Charters, reports that anglers are hooking good numbers of blackfin tuna and dolphin while trolling offshore of Hatteras Inlet. Some yellowfin tuna and wahoo have been mixed in as well. Most of the pelagic predators are taking an interest in skirted ballyhoo.
