Scott, of The Fishin’ Hole, reports that anglers are connecting with some larger sea mullet (1+ lb.) while casting baits into the local surf. Shrimp and Fish Bites baits are fooling many of the mullet.

Good numbers of taylor bluefish have been in the mix, and anglers are also connecting with some slot and over-slot red drum from the beach. Shrimp and cut baits have been getting attention from the blues and reds.

Spanish mackerel have been feeding just off the beach between Avon and Salvo, and anglers are connecting with them while casting metal jigs from the sand.

Kelly, of Rodanthe Pier, reports that there’s been some excellent bluefish action for anglers working casting lures from the pier recently. Some spanish mackerel have been mixed in.

Bottom fishermen are hooking pompano, spot, croaker, and sea mullet on shrimp and other smaller baits.

Live-baiters landed a 51” king mackerel from the end of the pier last week.

 

Ginger, of Frank and Fran’s, reports that Ramp 32 has opened to 4wd access, and anglers have been catching big numbers of spanish mackerel and bluefish while working lures from the sand there.

Sea mullet, croaker, pompano, and pufferfish have been falling for shrimp, Fish Bites, and other small baits in the surf.

A few slot and over-slot red drum are biting shrimp and cut baits between Avon and Salvo.

Anglers are also landing some keeper flounder in the surf on live and strip baits along with soft plastics.

 

Bev, of Frisco Tackle, reports that anglers have been hooking sea mullet and pompano while bottom fishing in the local surf. Shrimp are fooling most of the fish.

Pufferfish have been biting shrimp and other baits on small hooks in the sound.

Anglers continue to find plenty of action with a variety of sizes of red drum in the sound as well. Both baits and artificial lures are fooling the reds.

 

Kyle, of Frisco Rod and Gun, reports that anglers fishing from Hatteras Island’s southern beaches are hooking decent numbers of puppy drum, sea mullet, croaker, pompano, spot, and more. Shrimp, sand fleas, Fish Bites, and cut baits will all attract attention from the surf bottom feeders.

Anglers working metal casting jigs from the beach are hooking spanish mackerel and bluefish from Buxton to Hatteras.

Inshore boaters continue to connect with solid numbers of red drum (most over-slot but some keepers in the mix).

Trolling around Hatteras Inlet and off the beaches is producing plenty of action with spanish mackerel and bluefish. Most are falling for flashy trolling lures like Clarkspoons.

The local offshore boats are seeing plenty of action with wahoo and gaffer and bailer dolphin, along with some solid hauls of blackfin tuna. Most of the blue water pelagics are biting naked and skirted ballyhoo along with baitless trolling lures.

Bottom fishing offshore is producing plenty of action with tasty species like sea bass, triggerfish, snappers, and more.

 

JAM, of Teach’s Lair Marina, reports that anglers are seeing plenty of action with wahoo (some citation 40+ pounders) and dolphin while on trolling trips off Hatteras Inlet.

Bottom fishing around wrecks and other structure offshore is producing some serious hauls of sea bass, porgies, triggerfish, and much more.

Boaters trolling around Hatteras Inlet and in the ocean and sound nearby are connecting with good numbers of spanish mackerel and bluefish.

The inshore boats continue to see big action with slot and over-slot red drum.

Surf casters are hooking some large sea mullet and pompano while casting shrimp and sand fleas from the Hatteras beach.

Anglers fishing live and strip baits or artificials like Gulps are catching some flounder.

Bluefish and spanish mackerel are biting metal casting jigs that anglers are working from the beach, particularly around Hatteras Inlet.

 

Melinda, of Tradewinds Tackle, reports that anglers are hooking some fat pompano (some 2+ lb. citations) while soaking baits in the Ocracoke surf. Most are falling for shrimp and sand fleas.

Spanish mackerel and bluefish are also feeding along the beachfront on many days, and anglers can hook both on metal casting lures.

Flounder are feeding in the surf and sound. Anglers are tempting the flatfish to bite live and strip baits or artificials like Gulps.

Anglers are hooking plenty of citation-class red drum while fishing large cut baits in the sound, particularly in the evening and nighttime hours.
