Mark, of Shallow Minded Fishing Charters, reports that fishing around oyster bars in the backwaters is producing action with red drum, black drum, and some large croakers (up to 2 lbs.). Live shrimp on 1/8 oz. Mission Fishin’ jigheads are producing most of the action.

Drifting in Little River Inlet with live shrimp on Carolina rigs is attracting attention from some black drum, gray trout, ladyfish, big whiting, pompano, and summer flounder.

And float-rigged live shrimp cast near the rocks are attracting the attention of some speckled trout.

Flounder fishing remains consistent in Tubbs Inlet for anglers drifting or anchoring up with Carolina-rigged live baits.

Red drum are feeding underneath docks behind Ocean Isle, and they’ll strike live shrimp, finger mullet, or other baits. Anglers must turn the reds fast after hooking up or they’ll take the line into the structure.

 

Patrick, of Capt. Smiley’s Fishing Charters, reports that anglers are catching red drum, speckled trout, whiting, some large pompano, and ladyfish while drifting in Little River Inlet. Live shrimp fished on the bottom are producing much of the action.

Fishing the ICW around the Sunset Beach Bridge and other structure is attracting attention from speckled trout and some red drum, and most are falling for live shrimp fished beneath floats.

Live shrimp are also producing action with red and black drum in Bonaparte Creek and Dunn Sound. Split-shot rigs are the way to go for these backwater drum.

Cameron, of Little River Fishing Fleet, reports that anglers have had good catches of triggerfish, black sea bass, and big beeliners on offshore bottomfishing trips 40-50 miles out this week. The best action’s been in 100-120’, and anglers also hooked a surprising number of American red snapper in the area last week.

Squid and cigar minnows are producing the action with the bottomfish.

Light-lining on the offshore trips is producing a few king mackerel, too, but the dolphin seem to have moved on.

Closer in, boats are finding good action with amberjacks and king mackerel while live-baiting with pogies 10-20 miles offshore.

The spanish bite has slowed down a bit, but anglers are still hooking a few while trolling Clarkspoons just off the beaches.

 

Brendan, of Cherry Grove Pier, reports that bottom fishermen are decking some whiting and spot on shrimp and bloodworms.

Live shrimp fished near the breakers are producing some action with red drum.

Some sheepshead are feeding around the pilings, and anglers are hooking them on barnacles.

A few bluefish and spanish mackerel are falling for Gotcha plugs.

Live-baiters landed several king mackerel (up to 20 lbs.) last week.
