Will, at Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports that since the storm the pier has seen a few whiting and spots. They also picked up some black drum, including catches of a 7.5, a 9.0, and a 5 lb. black drum. Early in the morning is the key, and go out with live shrimp or mud minnows.
Rhett, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports that before the storm guys were picking up a few flounder and reds inside. Offshore, the king bite has just returned. One catch of note: a boy named Daniel had just caught his first flounder on a fly rod fishing in the Tubbs Inlet area. Since the storm there hasn’t been any fishing to talk about. The inside water is muddy, like the color of chocolate milk. It will take several days for it to clean up and the good fishing to return. The offshore waters will take less time to clean up.
