Brant, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports the king mackerel are spread out anywhere from 50 feet of water out to 110 feet. Try spots like the 390/390 and the ledges beyond the Tower.
There is plenty of bait holding to structure in the 60 to 70 feet areas.
Dolphin are mixed in with the kings. With continued southeast winds bringing more weeds inshore, there should be even more fish to be caught.
Cobia in the 20 to 30 pound range are being caught slow trolling. Many trips are getting 1 or 2 fish.
And the grouper are still biting well in the 80 to 110 foot areas.
Stan, at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports that the flounder bite has been really good. He’s been seeing flounder ranging from 2 to 6 pounds coming off of live peanut pogies. Tubbs Inlet and the creeks around Tubbs have been the most productive. Go on the rising tide.
For the falling tide, go for redfish at the Little River jetties. For bait, try peanut pogies on the bottom. You can expect the reds to be 25 to 30 inches.
Will, at Ocean Isle Pier, reports spot, whiting, and small sharks biting shrimp and bloodworms on the bottom.
Live shrimp are producing trout up to 3.5 lbs., as well as keeper flounder.
No king mackerel were landed this week, but cobia and tarpon were hooked by those trying for kings.
