Capt. Brant McMullan, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports the rain has stained up the water nearshore, but the kings are still around. They are biting well on the more southerly winds, and then it seems like they slow down on northern winds.
The bait is still abundant off Oak Island, so the fish should be nearby.
Capt. Stan Gurganis, of the Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports that all of the rain has made the inside water real red in color. The best water in the area has been some green water around the Little River jetties.
There are some flounder at the AR’s, but the consistent bite has been around the bridges and structure (hit the bridges first). And the red fish bite is strong at the Little River jetties, with multiple catches of large reds (from 30-45 inches). The reds are hanging out in concentrated areas. He also had a party catch and release a tarpon at the jetties.
Hunter, at The Rod and Reel Shop, reports the spots have been the main catch during all the bad weather. With the rain gone, anglers should expect good catches of flounder, drum, and trout from the rivers out to the inlets.
Kings were biting real well within 2 miles of the beaches before the storms, and with all the bait around they should be there waiting to be caught as the rain water clears.
Will, at Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports the spots are running good, with some anglers getting a cooler full. No one has been fishing for flounder, but they should be around. A few whiting are being caught by the spot fishermen, which are getting most of the attention now.
