Rhett, at Ocean Isle Fishing Center, reports decent offshore fishing from mid to late September, with wahoo, small dolphin, big blackfin tuna, and kings near the Jungle. Water clarity is still less than 5 feet and winds are heinous offshore, but inshore the flounder are plentiful, as are puppy drum and black drum. Pompano and whiting are regularly being caught in the surf.

Will, from Ocean Isle Beach Pier, reports plentiful catches of spots. They’re biting bloodworms. The black drum are biting minnows better than he’s seen in a long time. Sheephead and flounder fishing has also been good, and they’re biting sand fleas.
