Bowed Up Lures, based in Southern Shores, NC, is a community-based company that has grown their business in large part by gathering and incorporating loads of input and feedback from local charter captains, mates, and the pier fishing community up and down the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

The company currently offers jig heads, Skurtz’N Series, Zig Jigs (similar to “Gotcha” lures), and Trolling Series spoons. All of their lines are offered with premium Mustad hooks, and soon they will be introducing Perma-Steel and VMC hooks in the Trolling Series spoons.

The Bowed Up Lures line of bucktails are premium bucktails offered in a wide array of colors (blended, two-tone, top and bottom variants, lateral streaks, alternating, and solid) and styles (Octo, Hover, Albi, and Fish Head). The air brushing, different tying techniques, and life-like silicone skirt options are more time consuming in production, but the result is a high quality bucktail that needs no grub or soft plastics of any kind to attract fish in, as the construction allows it to naturally pulsate and flair when you jig it.

Bowed Up Lures has developed several popular styles that they keep in stock, but the company thrives on creating custom bucktails made to order—if you can dream it, then they can make it.

Zig Jigs are casting lures that offer the proven “walk the dog” action (or zig zags just like the popular Gotcha lure). The jigs are designed with a single hook that offers solid fish hookups with no more treble hooks stuck in the finger. Since the design is more compact, anglers can expect an additional 10-15 yards when casting, and unlike Gotcha plugs, the lures also can be worked in the surf from the beach (surface level).

The Zig Jigs are offered with a UV blast finish (which creates enhanced coloring, extra visibility, and prolonged color life) in a wide array of fish-catching colors. Tube style jigs have proven to have the best action and are replaceable, and they are offered in yellow, white, pink, and green.

Perhaps the most popular line for Bowed Up Lures is the Trolling Series spoons. The #1 sized spoons were designed based on the wishes of charter captains in the Outer Banks who wanted split rings and swivels, which helps increase the action while reducing twist in the leader line. Also, each spoon is custom painted, and the hooks are replaceable.

Custom and stock ordering is available and more information can be found on their website at www.boweduplures.com.
