Morehead City’s Sea Striker Company has been in the business of supplying anglers with economical and effective products ranging from terminal tackle and lures to gaffs and other equipment for years, and several new products the company introduced in 2009 are poised to further increase anglers’ fishing success.
The Fast Snap is a unique attachment device made of a single piece of stainless steel. Its unique design offers anglers a simple and quick way to connect rigs and lures to leaders and main lines. Both terminal ends of the stainless wire making up the Fast Snap are within the snap’s link, so anglers needn’t worry about a sharp wire end coming into contact with their hands when reaching for a fish or untangling a rig. The resulting streamlined shape also makes Fast Snaps far more weedless than any snap with a protruding end.
Since the Fast Snaps have no moving parts, they’re also ideal for anglers who have difficulty opening conventional snaps. Fast Snaps are available in 60 and 80 lb. test strengths in packages of 10, and they retail for $3.99.
Sea Striker’s new Sputnik Surf Sinkers feature an aerodynamic teardrop shape with stainless steel arms that anchor the sinkers in the sand. The two pairs of arms lock in place in a set position that gives the sinker far greater holding power than a traditional pyramid weight. When anglers are ready to bring in their rig, a tug on the line trips the arms into a streamlined position, for easy retrieval.
Switching from pyramid weights to the Sputnik Surf Sinkers actually allows anglers to increase the functionality of their surf rods, as they can use less weight and remain in the rods’ recommended casting range without sacrificing holding power in the breakers. Sputnik Surf Sinkers come in 3.5 and 5.3 oz. versions retailing for $2.99 and $3.99 respectively.
Sea Striker is also offering a trio of new, smaller sizes in their popular Jigfish jigging spoon. The company has added 1/2, 3/4, and 1 oz. versions to the line of 1.5-4 oz. lures that anglers have found effective on spanish mackerel, gray trout, bluefish, and more. The new smaller sizes are sure to be effective when species like spanish mackerel are keyed in on smaller baitfish, or when anglers wish to use lighter tackle to pursue their favorite species.
Like the larger versions, the new smaller Jigfish can be cast or vertically jigged with excellent results.
Sea Striker products are available at a host of local tackle retailers, and anglers can also find more information about their entire line of products at www.seastriker.com.
