Surf City Pier’s annual Children’s Fishing Competition and Celebration that they have hosted for more than ten years had to be cancelled for the past couple of years due to Covid and the addition of paid parking in the area. The event is returning this year, but in everyone’s best interest, in 2022 they will spread the event out throughout the month of July.
Instead of just one day, Surf City Pier will host the children every Thursday in July. This is open to all children ages 16 and younger, and there is no registration required.
Over the years, Surf City Pier has been fortunate enough to offer every child free lunch and an event t-shirt, in addition to other fabulous gifts and prizes that have been donated from area businesses, private individuals, and various fishing wholesale distributors.
Surf City Pier could use your help with this increasingly successful event. They are looking for both volunteers and sponsors.
Sponsors can either make a cash donation or donate a gift from your business or corporation. Each sponsor’s name will appear on the back of the children’s t-shirt, and as a sponsor, you will receive thanks and recognition in the event programs and on posters.
Volunteers will be needed to help supervise, answer questions, cut bait, identify fish, and teach fishing basics to our young anglers, as well as help with serving lunches.
