Xtratuf Shoes
In the past several years, Xtratuf deck boots have become as much of a fashion statement as they have functional fishing and boating gear. This began with their release of a 6” ankle boot a few years ago that coupled waterproof functionality and everyday comfortability. With these two principles in mind, Xtratuf has launched several series of deck shoes into their line—perfect for the upcoming warm weather season.
As mentioned, the 6” ankle deck boot has become the staple of Xtratuf’s offerings. Since the series’ popularity, the company has added several new color options in this model, including two in ladies’ styles and sizes. Adding to their core spread of gray/yellow, brown/tan, and navy/red, the men’s ankle boot is now available in Kryptek camo patterns, as well as a matte black. Women’s offerings include a seafoam/white combination, along with a navy that features pink accents instead of red.
A new model that is sure to be a hit this summer is the Riptide water shoe. Xtratuf has married a breathable, quick-dry, airmesh top with the same non-slip, non-marking Chevron outsole on their commercial fishing boots. The Riptide is equipped with bungee-style lacing, providing a secure and snug fit that still allows easy removal when wet.
The removable EVA insole features drainage ports that allow water to channel into three drainage holes in the shoe itself. The result is a shoe that is perfect for kayaking, paddleboarding, wading, and, of course, fishing. Available in a black/gray and gray/orange color scheme at a retail price of $80, the Riptide is a great choice for any outdoorsman searching for sure-footed comfort in wet conditions.
With the same features in mind, Xtratuf has also launched the Spindrift shoe for this year. Made of the same upper and lower materials as the Riptide, the Spindrift takes on more of the style of a sneaker, with extra padding in the soles and more arch support.
The drainage system is also much more advanced. In between the removable, ported insole lies a mesh liner glued and stitched to the sole, separating the sole’s surface from a series of 10 drainage channels throughout the sole. The extra drainage and increased shock absorption results in the perfect warm-weather deck shoe, whether on a leisurely waterway cruise or the wire man backing down on a blue one.
The athletic look allows this shoe to be worn on shore casually, without giving away your quick lunch break fishing trip. Available in two colors in both men’s and women’s models, the Spindrift retails for around $100.
