QUICK FACTS

Four Divisions: Bluefish, Flounder/Black Drum*, Sea Mullet, and Spanish/Pompano* (*decision of flounder or black drum and decision of spanish or pompano will be determined the week before the event based on current fishing reports)

Entry Fee: $60 per angler before September 12; $70 per angler after September 12 (one entry fee gets you in all four divisions except Slot Red Drum Calcutta)

Slot Red Drum Calcutta: $25 per angler (Slot Red Drum Calcutta is optional–it is offered as another way for tournament participants to win money)

Over $8,000 in cash and prizes (based on 200 entries)

Boundaries: Must fish from a Hatteras Island beach.

No boats — No sound or pier fishing.

Five Weigh-in Locations: Hatteras Jack (Rodanthe), Frank & Fran’s (Avon), Red Drum Tackle (Buxton), Frisco Tackle (Frisco), and Teach’s Lair (Hatteras Village).

Tournament Headquarters: Camp Hatteras meeting hall

Live Updates: There are three updates throughout the tournament weekend: Saturday 9:00 am;  Saturday 8:00 pm; and Sunday 9:00 am. Updates will be posted in three places:

  • Facebook: facebook.com/FishPost. Latest updates will be posted to the top of our feed.
  • Website: Latest updates will be posted on the Results page.
  • Weigh-In Stations: Each weigh-in station will have a whiteboard with the latest updates.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Registration: Friday, September 22, from 2:00 pm – 11:00 pm (everyone must stop by Registration/Tournament HQ to receive their tournament wrist band and have the band placed upon their wrist–no exceptions!)

Fish Time Starts: Friday, September 22, 12:00 midnight.

Fish Time Ends: Sunday, September 24, 12:00 noon.

Awards Dinner: Sunday, September 24, from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at Camp Hatteras, 24798 NC-12, Rodanthe, NC 27968

Awards Ceremony: Sunday, September 24, at 3:00 pm at Camp Hatteras

INSTAGRAM CONTEST

We want to see YOUR photos of fish this weekend!
Post a photo to Instagram and do the following to be entered to win the HISFC Instagram prize–TBA:

  • Must be following @fishermans.post on Instagram
  • Use the #HISFC2017 Hashtag
  • Photo must show fish and your tournament wristband
  • Your profile MUST be public for us to see the photo

Entries must be posted by 10:00 am on Sunday, Sept. 24, to qualify.


BIG RED HALL OF FAME

We want to celebrate all HISFC anglers that catch and release a citation red drum during tournament hours.

Honor System: Text us a photo of you and your citation red (with your tournament wrist band visible) to (910) 274-2781. Include your full name and the length of the fish.

All tournament citation anglers will be added to the Big Red Hall of Fame plaque, and the plaque will be displayed year round at Hatteras Jack.

Each year we will keep adding new names to the Big Red Hall of Fame plaque.


BENEFICIARY

Hatteras Island Meals was established to provide nutritious meals for lunch four days a week to elderly or homebound clients on Hatteras Island. The organization is 100% donation funded, 100% volunteer staffed, and their mission is to serve anyone on Hatteras Island who is unable for whatever reason to prepare nutritious meals for themselves.
